ONE KANO AGENDA WARNS PENGASSAN AND NUPENG, REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR DANGOTE REFINERY
The One Kano Agenda (Our Mission Kano) has once again spoken out strongly against the recent activities of oil and gas labour unions — PENGASSAN and NUPENG — over what the group describes as actions capable of harming Nigeria’s economy and undermining national unity.
In a statement made available from Kano and reported by Yusuf Bala for Eagle24 TV, the movement expressed serious concern about the ongoing labour agitation targeting the Dangote Oil Refinery, describing it as “ill-timed, counterproductive, and potentially damaging to Nigeria’s economic recovery.”
🇳🇬 A Call for Maturity, National Unity, and Responsibility
The One Kano Agenda, a nonpartisan movement devoted to the unity, progress, and strategic transformation of Kano State and Nigeria, reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Dangote Refinery, calling for restraint, maturity, and a sense of national duty from all parties involved.
“The Dangote Refinery is not merely a private venture — it is a national treasure,” the statement said. “It stands as a towering symbol of Nigeria’s industrial ambition, economic sovereignty, and global credibility.”
The group highlighted that the refinery, the largest single-train refinery in the world, represents one of the boldest private sector investments in African history — a project central to Nigeria’s dream of ending decades of dependence on imported petroleum products, strengthening the naira, and creating millions of jobs nationwide.
🌍 The Refinery as a Symbol of Hope
For the people of Kano and Nigerians at large, the Dangote Refinery embodies hope — hope for youth employment, industrial revival, and renewed confidence in the Nigerian spirit.
Its ripple effects across logistics, energy, transport, and allied industries are already transforming lives and unlocking new growth opportunities.

The One Kano Agenda called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give full presidential backing and institutional protection to the Dangote Refinery, not only as a private enterprise but as a strategic national asset.
“Supporting this refinery means supporting Nigeria’s energy independence, job creation, and industrial rebirth,” the statement added.
“The success or sabotage of this project will define how the world views Nigeria’s seriousness about economic transformation.”

The group described the recent posturing by NUPENG and PENGASSAN as “deeply troubling, reckless, and against national interest.”
“The refinery is one of the largest job-creating projects in Africa. For labour unions to act in ways that undermine its success is to threaten the livelihoods of the very workers they claim to defend,” the statement warned.
It urged the unions to embrace constructive engagement instead of hostility, reminding them that their legitimacy lies in building partnership with industry, not in obstruction.
“To attack the Dangote Refinery is to attack Nigerian workers. It threatens investors’ confidence and the jobs of future generations,” the group stated.
